A mixture of 0.0623 mol H2, 0.0414 mol I2 and 0.224 mol HI was placed in a 10.0 L stainless steel flask. The equilibrium constant K for the reaction of formation of HI is 54.3 at this temperature. Is this system at equilibrium? If not determine the direction of the reaction and calculate the amounts of H2, I2 and HI present at equilibrium.
