Why didn't Jesus write, like most Rabbi's of his time?

Do you think Jesus would have been a little better served to write his stories and philosophy down himself, rather than allowing his aged followers to attempt to remember them 40-60 years later, or worse yet Paul, to create a new doctrine based on second hand testimony of his followers?
